Taylor Swift wrote "Everything has Changed" with Ed Sheeran on a Trampoline
Taylor Swift's latest album, Red, released last week includes a song, 'Everything has Changed' which she wrote with Ed Sheeran on a trampoline in her garden.
"I actually wrote a song with Ed Sheeran on a trampoline in my backyard for the new album," Swift said. That's a song called 'Everything has Changed'. "We for real were sitting on my trampoline in my backyard cause we were writing a song and I was like, 'Hey, I got a trampoline, you want to see it?' And so, he brought the guitar for some reason."
This is a great example of what we often tell our trampoline customers here at Atlantic Trampolines, that the trampoline is not just a place for bouncing but a place to relax and often a very useful creative space, as Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran have demonstrated.
Taylor went on to say, "We ended up writing an entire song out there. For portions of the song we were bouncing around, 'cause it's a trampoline and it's fun, and the combined maturity level of both of us is 8 years old."
Since the launch of the album, "Red", it has shot to the top of the charts worldwide. The 22 year old Grammy winner's fourth studio album hit shelves on October 22. The record has had one of the best US debuts in history, selling over 1.2 million copies in the first week, according to Neilson SoundScan.. The album scored her first number one in the UK album charts. Worldwide, Red set a single-week sales record on iTunes, selling 464,000 copies.
According to Ed Sheeran, "We wrote a song on a trampoline, ate some apple pie and had a jam. It came in 20 minutes, really. It was a really simple song to write. We just had two guitars and strummed it out. I've heard from everyone in the industry how cool she is; she's got a very good reputation, but you never really realise what kind of person she is until you sit down and chat with her. She's just a very warm soul".
The duo apparently wrote two songs when they hooked up. One of these, 'Everything has Changed', is included on Swift's latest album, Red, but another song is still out in the ether, according to Sheeran.
It has been announced that Ed Sheeran will support Taylor Swift on her forthcoming North American tour. Taylor Swift's Red tour, named after her new album of the same name, begins in March 2013 and goes on until the end of September. Ed Sheeran tweeted: "Happy to annouce that I am special guest on @taylorswift13's tour of North America next year, cannot wait!" The tour dates include venues like the Dallas Cowboy's stadium and Chicago' Soldier Field.
Let's hope their partnership develops, and remember, it all started on a trampoline in her garden. Perhaps others will follow their example and use a trampoline to spark the creative streak.
Here's a clip of Taylor being interviewed on an Australian radio station about how this creative session came about.
